How can I convince a shy boy that the scars don't matter? ?

This shy boy and I like each other but he%26#039;s not confident enough to ask me on a date. We were at a pool party and he was the only one wearing a shirt and I asked him about it. He told me that he has really bad scars on his back and is ashamed of them. What can I say or do to convince him that they don%26#039;t matter to me. |||He has to feel okay around other people without his shirt on. You just have to keep at him. Not much else you can do.
