I have a huge scar on my forehead from wearing my scarf too tight around my head...my friend recommended I buy some witch hazel %26amp; apply it to the scar to clear it up %26amp; make it disappear. So i%26#039;m wondering, is this true? Is witch hazel good for clearing up scars? Or do I need to buy another product to get rid of it? And if so, what works good that is cheap?|||Witch hazel is an astringent. Astringents are substances that can dry, tighten, and harden tissues. You may use an astringent on your skin to tighten pores and remove excess oil. The astringent properties in witch hazel temporarily tighten and soothe aching varicose veins or reduce inflammation in cases of phlebitis (an inflammation of a vein). Witch hazel also contains procyanadins, resin, and flavonoids, all of which add to its soothing, anti-inflammatory properties.
This will not heal most scars though it can lessen the redness.
However, another natural remedy for healing scars is tea trea oil. I love it because its safe, good for your skin, and prevents infection.
If you want an actual product that reduces scarring, my first suggestion would be to get Mario Badescu%26#039;s Whitening Mask. This can be used for acne scars as well as any other kind of scar. Also the Healing %26amp; Soothing Mask and Healing Cream from Mario will also help.

Another product that is great for scars is called Mederma. This is also rather pricey but if the scar is that significant, it will be worth it:

Good luck!
